Arezzo, May 15, 2025 – “Electromagnetic emissions, for the City Council everything is fine”. The note from councilor Michele Menchetti
"For the City Council of Arezzo, it seems, everything is fine in the matter of electromagnetic emissions, despite the current relevance of the topic, as demonstrated by the Via Sicilia affair and the recent rejection of the appeal of the Municipality by the TAR". With these words, the councilor Michele Menchetti comments on the rejection by the City Council of the motion he presented on the protection of health in the field of electromagnetic emissions.
"Despite numerous interventions, even of great importance, by several councilors" underlines Menchetti, "the final result is disheartening and shows a lack of attention to a crucial issue for the health of citizens". Menchetti emphasized the key passage of the motion, recalling the statements of Dr. Fiorella Belpoggi, scientific director of the Ramazzini Institute of Bologna regarding the research of the aforementioned institute, the largest ever conducted on the subject of radiofrequency radiation. "Dr. Belpoggi's words are unequivocal: 'the occurrence of a rare tumor is always proof that something is wrong' and, regarding the millimeter waves of 5G, she stated that 'we have complete darkness', adding that 'we are at the mercy of an industry that has not invested a cent in the safety of its products'. Heavy statements that cannot be ignored. My hope, - concludes Councilor Menchetti, - is that the Municipal Administration finally takes this problem to heart and commits concretely to drafting the Antenna Plan. In the meantime, I believe it is essential that the Mayor, as the person primarily responsible for the public health of his citizens, seriously evaluates the possibility of issuing an ordinance to block the possible activation of the antenna on Via Sicilia, applying the precautionary principle to protect the community".
